Metal Blade signs Sweden's KING OF ASGARD

Metal Blade Records has announced the signing of the Swedish viking folk/death metal band, KING OF ASGARD.

KING OF ASGARD is currently recording its as-yet-untitled debut album at Sonic Train studios in Varberg, Sweden with Andy La Rocque ( KING DIAMOND) at the helm.

Swedish Death Metal supertalents AS YOU DROWN have announced Reflection as the title of their upcoming debut album to be released July, 3rd / 6th in Europe.

AS YOU DROWN was formed in Borås, Sweden in the winter of 2003/2004 when the average age of the band was only 17 years. Without a doubt the future belongs to AS YOU DROWN! After the successful re-issue of the AMON AMARTH debut album 'Once Sent From The Golden Hall' it's time to announce the details for the second re-issue of the year. The second album in the discography of AMON AMARTH is 'The Avenger' and the 2-disc-deluxe re-issue is set for release in Europe on May 22/25!

'The Avenger' will be released again as a double-popup-digipak featuring two discs. Disc one features the entire 'The Avenger' album remastered plus the bonus track 'Thor Arise'!

Disc two features the live recording of the show AMON AMARTH played on December 29, 2008 in Bochum, Germany where they played the album in its entirety. The order of songs is the same as on disc one (excluding 'Thor Arise'). This reissue (and all the other ones to follow up later in the year) will be released as an eight-sided double-digipak with individual pop-up. All four pop-ups attached to each other show a special three-dimensional pic. The reissue also features liner notes by singer Johan Hegg.

BAND BIO:
Deportees were formed in the summer of 2003. Two pairs of brothers, Peder and Anders Stenberg and Jonas and Mattias Lidström respectively, hired a small studio for the weekend to record some music with a couple of talented friends. The result was a two track CD which was sent to various people working in the Swedish music industry, instantly drawing a lot of attention. A&R Ismail Samie of highly regarded record label Dolores picked up the buzz on the band, called the singer Peder Stenberg up and had him playing back the songs over the phone. Before the conversation was over, he had decided to sign Deportees. A few months later the debut single “Arrest Me ..Til It Hurts” was out. The title track was a major hit tune on Swedish radio, and on October 27 2004 the album “All Prayed Up” was released.

"Mainstream Killed the Indie Star" is retiring TOKYOSTAR.

This isn't a bad thing, we'll still be featuring bands from all over Japan, but the thing is there are so many other bands from all over the world that we want to feature. Is it really fair to just focus in on one country...Russia is like triple the size of Japan, can you imagine the variety of talent, but yet we haven't even featured a band from that country.

So, alleviate any bias..."Mainstream Killed the Indie Star" is introducing and renaming this blog, RAW TUNEAGE! Raw Tuneage will showcase videos from bands in Canada, Europe, Asia, Latin America, everywhere but the UNITED STATES! If you want bands from the U.S., click on the GrafWall link.

As you may know... GrafWall features band news, tour news, and videos... well we're not in Europe or Asia or wherever, we're in the U.S., so it's easier to report on U.S. indie band news. Feel free to post blogs about band news from other countries...this is a community blog met to incorporate news from various sources. So, WRITE AWAY and always post a link to the bands you are referencing so they get the necessary promo and plugs :)
