Burden of a Day has called it quits... sort of.

Sarasota, Florida's BURDEN OF A DAY formed 6 years ago as a Christian post-hardcore band and signed to Rise Records in 2008, with most of the original members no longer in the band. BOAD has finally decided to re-invent themselves with a new band name and a new sound. Follow the band members on Twitter to be updated on the new things to come, @BOADmike, @JoshIsAlive, @KyleTamo.

Official Band Statement:
We have just posted the dates for two home shows and yes they will in fact be the two last BOAD shows. But this is not the end...seriously...kinda. Burden has been hard at work on making another album almost immediately after "oneonethousand" hit shelves. From album to album BOAD has stylistically grown, superseding efforts each time. With those efforts comes risk. And now we are taking a risk that we never have before. We are so proud of the new CD we are writing and are confident in its ability to take the band places we have all never been. With that being said, we want to give it a fair chance with a fresh start. NO members are leaving, NO break up is happening, but everything is changing. The members of Burden are more passionate about making movement with their music than ever. and that is simply what we are doing. A NEW band is coming, one that we know no one will expect, no one can avoid, and won't disappoint. Burden Of A Day was the shell that was growing what we have now; we are so excited and know our strong BOAD fans will understand the jump when they hear it. When it is ready, the name and the sound will be revealed here...and that will be sooner than you might imagine.

Now as for the upcoming shows...it will be like no other BOAD show. Expect to hear over a dozen songs spanning three ALBUMS, and expect to see an old face or two join us on stage for the set and yes, it's most likely who you are getting gitty over. It will be the most emotional, exciting, fun, and loving show we have put on. So come out and make these shows as special as they are. We love you all, and everything we do is for you.

Of Mice & Men Album Review

“Of Mice & Men” Album Review
by: Jason Landers

Of Mice & Men… God that book sucked, but that's not what this is about. With over one million plays within weeks of creating Of Mice & Men, Rise Records (based out of Oregon) decided to jump on board with veteran front man Austin Carlile (formerly of Attack, Attack) and his new full-time project. With their debut self-titled album set to hit stores on March 9th, 2010, I figure someone needs to give this band the respect they deserve.

What first stuck out about this record are the spine chilling screams by Austin Carlile. His ability lyrically and vocally allow for the music to just naturally flow along. Don't get any doubts about the other musicians, as the guitars and drums continue with explosive riffs and tight drums rolls throughout each and every song.

The album kicks off with “YDG,” which stands for “Ya Dig?” This song is a great start for the record with the breakdowns coming off perfectly and also displaying the clean vocals of Shayley Bourget. “Seven Thousand Miles For What” is one of the first songs the band ever released and the CD version is MUCH better than the demo version.

“They Don't Call It The South For Nothing” is the second track on the self-titled album and this is a sure fan favorite for the breakdowns and group vocals in the middle of the song, “I said I'd fight back, I didn't say that I'd fight fair!” The third song on the record that I feel will stick is “Second and Sebring.” The double bass pedals and catchy intro call for every sign of a single, but the songs also has a dope ending leading to one of the heaviest tracks on the record, “Westbound & Down.”

Overall, this is a solid debut by the up and coming post-hardcore outfit based in Los Angeles. I definitely recommend picking up a copy of this on March 9th or at least listening to this record for the sake of music.

What's The Word? OM&M is a must-see at this year's Warped Tour.

PROS:

Unclean Vocals: I would even go as far to say Austin has the best screams in the industry.

Guitars: solid transitions between songs and excellent playing.

Production and Mixing: The quality of each track is superb and the tracks couldn't have been mixed better.

Replay Value: Something you can listen to over and over again. Honestly, how many bands produce CDs with a high replay value? Few and far between, my friends.

CONS:
Austin Carlile is about to undergo heart surgery, so basically you can't see the actual OM&M until Warped.

Not Enough Clean Vocals: I felt like OM&M could have utilized Shayley's vox more and believe it or not, this guy actually sounds good live.

Recommended Songs: Westbound & Down, Second & Sebring, They Don't Call It The South For Nothing, Seven Thousand Miles For What, This One's For You

Listen to the album currently streaming on OM&M's Myspace (Myspace.com/OfMice).

"We wanted -- since we were writing it and recording it in the desert, and we're form here, we think that's something that's kind of unique about our band -- and we really wanted to capture what its like living here in the music," guitarist Jeremy Ray Talley tells Noisecreep.
