The Militia Group record label is shutting down

Altpress.com has learned that Long Beach, California, record label, the Militia Group, is reportedly on the verge of shutting its doors. While there's been no official word from TMG, industry insiders have hinted that many artists signed to the label are having their options picked up by other labels. The Militia Group has been largely dormant for most of 2009 and all indications are that bands currently listed among its active roster are moving elsewhere: The Summer Set--who signed to the label in April 2008--are releasing their upcoming full-length through Razor & Tie. When asked for a statement, TMG label head Rory Felton declined to comment at this time.

The Militia Group was founded by Chad Pearson in 1998 as a booking agency, but morphed into an independent label by 2000 with the addition of Felton, soon boasting a roster that included the Rocket Summer, Copeland and Acceptance. Over the following years, TMG released albums by Cartel, Quietdrive, the Appleseed Cast and more.

News: QUIETDRIVE debuts #1 on Billboard chart

Minnesota rockers QUIETDRIVE who are signed to The Militia Group, released their sophomore album, Deliverance, on Oct. 21st and it debuted at #1 on Billboard's New Alternative Artist chart. The album is available online and in stores nationwide. The band is currently on tour with MEST and ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.
