OCEANA to release new EP and sign to Canadian label

Florida's OCEANA will release "Clean Head" their first EP, and a follow up to their second album "Birth.Eater". "Clean Head" will feature 4 tracks and fans can expect a release on May 4, 2010. Furthermore, OCEANA has signed a distribution deal with Canadian record label, Distort Entertainment (Cancer Bats, Bleeding Through, Dead and Divine). On May 4th, Distort Ent. will re-package OCEANA's "Birth.Eater" to include "Clean Head" as a companion.

After a few months of thought and ton of discussions, we (Denny, Jack, Brennan) have decided to bring our true love back to life. Rob and Alex have decided to take a different route on the road of life and we support them in their decisions and are still best friends with no hard feelings. With these losses, we would love to welcome our newest member of the OCEANA family - our new bassist (Kolby Cridder.) Oceana ex-members start new side project

Former members of OCEANA Brennan Taulbee and Denny Agosto have started a new side project, TROME (The Rest Of Mother Earth). TROME is a total 360 change up from Oceana with its soft/melodic tone; the duo just posted an untitled demo on their Myspace page and released this statement.

"This blog is in regards to our new demo, (no name, no guitar, just jam) Denny and I have had this project planned for some time now and recently recorded this demo for you. it is not finished (in almost every aspect) but we hope you enjoy, listen with your hearts. OCEANA has officially announced breaking up

Two days ago OCEANA posted a bulletin saying "We are done", now today the Rise Records hardcore band from St. Petersburg, FL has announced that they have unfortunately broken up. Here's the band's statement:

"We know a lot of rumors have been circulating around about us. We're sorry we left you hanging so long on this blog. But unfortunately the rumors are true. Oceana has broken up. We apologize to all of our fans. You are amazing and are the only ones who made this worth while. We love you. Thanks to everyone who picked up our new cd. We all put our heart and soul into Birtheater and are very proud of the album."

"This breakup has nothing to do with any one member. We're all best friends and we all sat down and talked this through. It's not that we are not happy with the response from the new album. We knew the change would be a bit rocky and our kind of music isn't exactly whats popular right now. A lot of kids would rather listen to songs riddled with breakdowns and over auto-tuned vocals. That is exactly why we appreciate our fans so much, you guys aren't just going with the trend. We all decided that our hearts were in different places at this time in our lives. We're all young and we guarantee this won't be the last you hear of us. Maybe you'll get five new bands out of the deal."

Breaking News: OCEANA says, "We are done".

Rise Records hardcore band OCEANA released a Myspace bulletin saying, "We are done". In the message, the band stated that they would post a blog soon. The 5-piece Florida band just released their newest album "Birth Eater" on May 26th and are currently scheduled for 2 tours this summer with Silverstein and Fear Before.

We will keep you updated. If this is true, aw man...this band was just starting to build a national buzz with their new record and upcoming tours. Big bummer to the Rise Records roster and the Tampa, FL music scene.
