For Today frontman announces new solo project

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x242/may989/whensonsbecomefathers.png

Iowa Christian hardcore band FOR TODAY's vocalist Mattie Montgomery has announced that he will be releasing a solo album, When the Sons Become Fathers. The spoken word album is apart of Mattie's personal ministry to sharing The Gospel to a young generation.

I have been given a grace speak into the lives of a generation, and to do so with influence and authority to unleash revelation of the Glory of the Uncreated One. So, I released this album in hopes of encouraging my generation--my brothers and sisters, my family--toward their destiny as laborers for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. I believe that we are the generation that will usher in the second coming of Christ, but I also believe that it will take a radical, electrified movement of young people whose words, actions and prayers are energized by the Holy Spirit through true, passionate connection to the Creator God. Arise as the face of a new revolution in spiritual authority! Declare freedom for the captives! Awaken a generation to see the face of the Living God! - Mattie

A Plea For Purging sign to Australia's El-Shaddai Records

Official Press Release:

Hailing from Nashville Tennessee, in the heart of America’s deep south, metalcore monsters A Plea For Purging have built a strong reputation for amazing technical ability, fire-breathing and an intense touring schedule which has seen them play over 700 shows in the last 3 years alone!

Sweeping across their native land with a gruelling touring schedule, releasing two well received EPs and one breakout album A Plea For Purging went into the studio to record with legendary producer Joey Sturgis (Devil Wears Prada, Gwen Stacy, Attack Attack). Taking inspiration from a diverse range of artists ranging from Meshuggah and Radiohead to Slipknot and even T.I  the result, Depravity, is a bone crunching mix of raging vocals and elegantly twisted harmonies.

After firmly establishing themselves in their native land A Plea For Purging have set their sights on Australia. The band inked a deal with rising Aussie indie label El Shaddai Records, who successfully brought the sounds of artists like Forgiven Rival, House vs Hurricane and who successfully brought the sounds of artists like Forgiven Rival, House vs Hurricane and recently Antiskeptic across thier sun soaked nation.

“We wanted to find a home with a label that understood the Australian market and that we also felt comfortable working with. We couldn’t be happier,” said guitarist Blake Martin.

Phil Kennedy, label President, said “A Plea For Purging’s a killer band and it’s a great honour having them join our growing family."

The band and new Australian home El Shaddai Records will start their Australian conquest by releasing their Facedown Records (Comeback Kid, War of Ages, Nodes of Ranvier) hit Depravity in early 2010. The exclusive Australian Edition version of Depravity will have a few little surprises. “We want to give a little something special to our Aussie fans that have little surprises. “We want to give a little something special to our Aussie fans that have waited patiently for this record to land on their sunny shores,” guitarist Blake Martin explained.

The band also plans to make the long trip out to tour there next year which will mark the first time Australian fans get to taste Andy Atkins, Blake Martin, Tyler Wilson, John Wand and Aaron Eckermann unleash their power onstage. Until that time Australian listeners of Depravity will be sure to see why the bands faith in their craft is indestructible; the place from which Depravity is born.

Secret Service Entertainment welcomes WRENCH IN THE WORKS

Secret Service Entertainment (SSE) is proud to welcome Facedown Records artists Wrench In The Works to the Family. Taking the innovation of a “contempo-noise” alternative genre and joining it with the fundamental excellence of bands like Converge, Deadguy and Zao, Wrench In The Works has honed a style of progressive music that is genuinely unique and savagely majestic. A sound which is brutally aggressive joins with well-written metal-influenced-hardcore to show its unabashed rebellion against the genre’s restricting conventions. As experimental metal begins to flow with the mainstream, Wrench In The Works desists from the gimmicks that plague the stage during so many metal-hardcore hybrid shows, allowing the unconventionality of their writing to shine through.

Wrench In The Works’ accomplishments have exceeded the status quo of the average underground band. The release of their 2005 full-length, “Prodigal Transmission,” took the band on their first self promoted national tour as well as an eastern Canadian tour and countless weekend shows, continuously teaming up with a broad range of bands. With seemingly limitless ingenuity and passion, members Andy Nelson, Justin Mehl and Darrell Tauro will continue shattering eardrums as well as genre barriers as they write and record for their debut Facedown release.

IN THE MIDST OF LIONS play vicious deathcore in the service of a higher power. A mixture of fast-paced tech metal and melodic worship, their music can be compared to such contemporaries as The Faceless, Meshuggah and Veil of Maya, with the addition of the fact that ITMOL packs a serious spiritual punch. "Our generation is in dire need of a savior. It has become trendy to cast out our Lord, we are here to bring the truth." ITMOL's truth comes under the guise of death metal laced with explosive breakdowns and inspirational live shows.

News: Facedown Records signs HANDS from Fargo, North Dakota

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

"We are very excited to introduce you to the newest member of the Facedown Family – HANDS. Since forming in 2007 (in Fargo, North Dakota) HANDS have desired to present a passionate and intense live show. Now, a year later, they offer a performance that is characterized by what drummer Josh Silbernagel calls "beautiful chaos." HANDS unfurl hugely anthemic prog-rock ballads bearing the influence of Isis while at the same time laying out solidly progressive hardcore tracks inspired by bands such as Life In Your Way and Misery Signals. HANDS will be working with Mike Dresch @ Cathouse Studios (Nodes of Ranvier, The Spill Canvas, War Of Ages) for their Facedown debut which will see a July 2009 release date. News: A HOPE FOR HOME signs to Strike First

Earlier this December, the Oregon hardcore band, A HOPE FOR HOME, took a giant leap into the industry and solidified music as a career by signing a deal with Strike First Records, a subsidiary of Facedown Records. Read the official announcement from the band's Myspace blog...

"We are pleased to announce that we have signed with Strike First/Facedown Records! After 2 years of being a 100% DIY group we have finally been given an awesome chance to take the next step in the industry, and we can't be more excited. The Facedown family is a great place for us and we humbly follow in the footsteps of 2 other important Facedown Portland bands, Inked In Blood and Brutal Fight.

We will be re-releasing 'The Everlasting Man' on January 20th. I know some of you already have it, so we decided to spice it up a little bit. The re-release will have:
-2 New Songs
-Remixed
-Remastered
-Brand New Artwork

It is up for preorder now in the Facedown Records online store-check that out here- http://facedown.merchnow.com/and while you're at it, add them on myspace! www.myspace.com/strikefirstrecords

Also, we are having a CD re-release show at the Satyricon in Portland on January 24th, 2009. More info on that soon. We are also going to be filming a video in Seattle this weekend for "Iniquity: An Offering" so be checking back for that soon! And of course we will be back on tour next year hopefully around February so check back for dates!

We need your support now more than ever. The music industry is at a very interesting place right now, and we believe one thing that has plagued the Major Labels has been the tendency to look at the listener as part of a larger group of people that make up a mechanical, predictable consumer base, and just create products to throw out at you with little or no value. We have always felt that music should be something that is valued and can stand for something, and we want to present our music to you with as much heart as we can. We feel partnering with the Strike First/Facedown team will only strengthen that ideal, and the way to create lasting art is to be honest and create without pretense. Thank you all for your continued support (and for reading this far!) And we will see you on the road next year!"

Tour Update: FOR TODAY in Mexico

Yea this is kinda old news but back in October, Facedown Records band FOR TODAY played a couple dates in MEXICO! We at IndieStar.tv are firm believers in the Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST and we support the goodness of the Holy Spirit that was spread by FOR TODAY in Oaxaca, Mexico...check out these videos of the band.

Here's the band's testimony in MEXICO:
There were probably 1000+ people at both of the shows here. The first night, we were told that our time was very limited (in fact, they cut off like half of our set because the cops showed up and were trying to shut us down... with guns), and that we should wait until night 2 to bring the Holy Ghost bomb.

Well, little did we know how serious the phrase "Holy Ghost bomb" would become. We showed up on day 2, and it started to rain. So, we all hit the ground in prayer and contention, petitioning God to shut up the heavens, and to bring the multitudes to that place. Well, in true Almighty-God-and-Creator-of-Heaven-and Earth fashion, the rain stopped...3 separate times, and tons and tons of people came out, and the night proceeded without incident. UNTIL...

In the pit, while Saving Grace was playing, a kid got knocked out cold. This kid, while completely unconscious, got carried out of the crowd and laid on the ground off to the side. The percussionist for Man of Sorrows, Danny, grabs me and says "Let's go pray", to which I respond "Vamos a orar" (which means "let's go pray").

**Note: I do not speak Spanish. I never have spoken Spanish, and I probably never will speak Spanish. However, that night, we prayed healing over a kid in Spanish, and I wound up preaching in Spanish during our set.

Now, for the next 5 minutes, not one single English word came out of my mouth. Danny and I pushed through the crowd, knelt down and laid hands on the unconscious kid. I started praying in fluent Spanish, "In the name of Jesus Christ, arise", and, as soon as I said the word "arise", the kid popped his eyes open, looked me in the face and jumped up.

Danny grabbed him and asked (in Spanish), "Are you in pain?", the kid replied "Yeah. My head hurts and I'm really dizzy." So, Danny sat him down on a park bench, and prayed that the pain in this kid's head would leave. After this, Danny asked him again "Are you STILL in pain?" The kid looked at Danny, confused, cocked his head to the side and said "No. I'm fine." And got up and walked away.

HAH! God wins! :) Always.
