Standby Records signs MODERN DAY ESCAPE

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

Orlando, Florida based screamo/rock outfit MODERN DAY ESCAPE have announced that they have signed with Cleveland, OH based Standby Records! Singer James Vegas commented, “We never thought that they would really take us seriously when we contacted them. We jokingly messaged them on myspace and were shocked when Neil Sheehan (owner of Standby) wrote us back wanting to sign us.” Guitarist/vocalist Marti Rubels added, “We’re extremely excited to be with Standby Records. We’ve been writing constantly and have had a lot of plans for what we wanted to do as a band. Standby Records gives us the opportunity to fulfill those plans and push everything to the max.”

The band will enter Chin Music Studios in Cleveland with producers Don Debiase (Beneath the Sky, Driver Side Impact) and Johnny Burke (Forever In Terror, Vice On Victory) to record their upcoming full-length slated for an early second quarter release. “We’re not looking to reinvent the wheel with this new album, we’re just trying to make a wheel that runs smoother.” Vegas remarked. Rubels continued, “With our new songs, we’ve elaborated on our sound in every possible direction. Our songs have a little something for everyone.” Guitarist Nic adds, “We all dedicated all of our time and hearts to writing this new album. It’s our blood, souls, sweat, and tears set in tracks to introduce us to the world without any compromise.”

Eulogy Recordings signs ROSALINE

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

Eulogy Recordings is very proud to announce the signing of Chicago's, ROSALINE. The band is currently in the studio at JTW Studios in Wisconsin recording their debut album for the label called "A CONSTANT NORTH" which is expected for release this Summer.

“We are really excited to join the Eulogy Recordings family. Longevity says a lot about a business, but more so about the people running it. We feel like John and the rest of the Eulogy crew have been around so long because they have the right attitudes when it comes to releasing creative music. A couple hours on the phone over a couple of months really let us know that Eulogy was a label that supports authentic music and more importantly, creative people. We don’t feel constricted to fit in with a certain group or sound, just to be ourselves and write the best music we can, and we know that Eulogy will be there to support us every step of the way” – Madison Stolzer, Guitar

"When I first heard Rosaline I knew right away the band was something special. Eulogy has always been proud to offer our listeners many different styles of underground music. Rosaline brings the talent, energy and dedication that we expect from all the bands on our roster. We are very excited to release their new album this summer under the Eulogy name," adds Eulogy owner John Wylie.

Bio:
ROSALINE is a six piece melodic post hardcore band from Chicago, IL that began playing shows in early 2004. After independently releasing their debut full length album "We're all Just Passing Through" in 2005, Rosaline continued to emerge around the Midwest as one of it's premier acts, capturing attention with aggressive, sincere and flowing music. A melodic ambient backbone combined with honest emotional intensity create the unique sound that defines Rosaline.

Lineup:
Madison Stolzer - Guitar/Vocals
Nick Jones - Vocals
Ryan Prindle - Drums
Chris Maxson - Guitar
Nate Steinheimer - Keyboard
Ryan Pulice - Bass

THE ALMOST are in the studio

Here's a studio update from THE ALMOST.

Sunday, 4.26
Location: Dark Horse Recording, Franklin, TN

So we all officially arrived in Franklin yesterday. The charm of this town has no end. For me, it reminds me so much of home in Carolina. Even though we all basically arrived separately, our faces were the same as we pulled into Robin Crow's beautiful studio. Our chins dropped in awe of this country castle we'll be in till June.

From picking up Alex and Matt from Emery (who is engineering our album and will constantly be referred to as "Zod" in my blogs from here on out), to getting a little time downtown in Nashville yesterday, to coming home to find Rod and Aaron Sprinkle here, it was a pretty rad day. We're all excited about what's going to be taking place over the next couple of months for sure.

We'll be launching a new myspace sometime this afternoon, complete with twitter updates sent by members of the band, a stickam running live most days, and updated daily blogs/vlogs. We're stoked and want all of you guys to be in the loop and feel like you're here with us, making this thing go down!

I'll write more tonight to give some details about what goes down today!

Love ya'll.

We The Kings get in scuffle with Philly cops

The Bamboozle Roadshow made its stop in Philadelphia on Sunday, April 26th. Later that night, some type of drama erupted between Philly's "finest" cops and pop rockers, We The Kings and Forever the Sickest Kids. Word of the incident was ironically reported on the social network status updater, Twitter, in real-time.

We The Kings singer Travis Clark quoted on his Twitter profile, "Philadelphia cops just beat us up for nothing! Chris V is bleeding from his head, every cop is completely abusing their power!! This is so messed up! There is nothing worse then a friend asking you for help & knowing you can't do anything about it cause 5 cops are standing in front of you."

Mercy Mercedes bassist Tommy Donahue
typed in on his Twitter, "Ian, tech for FTSK has been released. Pray for Chris V (merch guy) and T-Fair (tour manager) from WTK crew."

WTK bassist Drew Thomsen
ended the Twitter night with stating, "F*ck philly cops!!! Oink oink drop dead polesmokers!"

So what was the source of all this drama, Brendan from Valencia wrote in his blog, "They wanted the bands to move their busses and vans, even though they weren’t finished loading up."

Here's a pic of the blood spilled from the drama. Woo! That doesn't look good. Oh peep the video.

Hmm...so when did Twitter become a witness to the event :-)

Music Video: THE SPORES "Ghost Town"

Here's a music video from SideCho Records artist, THE SPORES, for their single "Ghost Town" off the album, Doom Pop. The 12-track album is chalk full of thrashy electro-pop rhythms, breathy vocals, and wiry guitar riffs. My favorite tracks are video game firing "Big Brother" and electronica-laden "Blood Red Rose 2".

Band statement from LOWER DEFINITION

Here's a band statement from LOWER DEFINITION discussing the future of the band.

"First of all, the future of Lower Definition is not 100% clear yet. After 2 members of our band quit basically back to back within a months time we, as the remaining members, have taken some time of think about what exactly our future is going to entail. We could not express through words how difficult it is to slow down the one thing that we have put our all into for over 7 years. We want to thank all of you, our amazing fans, the ones that have been supporting us since our first show, and the ones we just gained. I know a lot of you don't want this to be the end of the road for us and we want you all to know, that we don't want to give up on music either."

"This recent loss for the band was significantly different because we lost two of our oldest members and people who have basically built this band and watched it become what it is. After Tino and Stefan quit we opened our eyes and realized we still had a long way to go. We understand that from a fan's standpoint it's difficult to comprehend why someone would want to leave a band that's touring and on a record label. However, success isn't always measured the same by everyone."

"Why don't we just get a new drummer and a new bass player and continue doing what we're doing? It wasn't that easy this time. We really needed to regroup and get on the same page as far as our common goals were concerned. The whole concept of our last album "The Greatest of All Lost Arts" was simply to write real, honest, from the heart music and defend it to the death. We realized that for some people, other aspects of this music industry were more enticing."

"It's honestly a misfortune that we slaved over this last record for months and handcrafted every topic discussed in it just to have it not catch as well with the masses. We didn't expect to sell a million copies or go platinum but our individual views on success obviously weren't in sync. We wish everyone appreciated our music as much and understood it as well as all of you reading this. You are who we owe this record to and who we appreciate so much because you love our music. You are the reason we don't want to quit music we just need some time to really get it right this next time. We want to stay true to ourselves and you guys, so we won't be compromising any of our values and beliefs on this next try."

"We don't know who is going to be in this band, or when we're going to start making our "comeback", or even if we're going to go by the name Lower Definition but we can guaranteeeeeee you this new venture WILL be sleepless nights, sore fingers, sore throats, blistered hands, headaches and utter chaos for us.. and in the end we hope it's going to be something you and a million more people will appreciate. We realize that as artists our music is just a drop in the ocean but we do it all for you. Thank you for everything and we really hope you'll be back here when we are."

When Dave and Kyle signed to Rise Records in July 2008, they agreed to a non-exclusive contract sometimes called a "one-off" deal. Basically, Breathe Carolina became free agents after they released Its Classy, Not Classic and fulfilled their one year deal. Apparently, they only announced signing with Rise in July but clearly inked the contract months earlier...haha, all bands do that, sign months ago and announce months later. Now you've learned something about the music business.

2009 TAKE ACTION! TOUR raises over $40,000

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

The recently wrapped, eighth annual 2009 Take Action! Tour came to a culmination after two months and 40 shows, with one last hurrah in Cincinnati, OH on April 1, 2009. The nationwide charity tour raises funds and awareness for youth involvement in charitable action, and for the second straight year Take Action has chosen not-for-profit organization DoSomething.org to benefit from the funds raised and to help spread the message of action to young people across the US and Canada.

2009 marks the first time the Take Action! Tour has ventured to Australia, with Hopeless Records’ own All Time Low and San Franciscan pop-punk/hardcore enthusiasts Set Your Goals leading the charge, while Melbourne quintet Stealing O’Neal will also be jumping on board as the national support. The Take Action! Tour supports and promotes the work of ReachOut.com, an Australian youth service dedicated to reducing youth suicide. From each ticket sold, Take Action! will donate 10% (excluding GST) to ReachOut.com to help them continue to provide young people with an anonymous and free support website which provides info and advice on issues like depression, bullying, wellbeing and relationships. Visit TakeActionTour.com for additional details.

The Impact of the 2009 Take Action! Tour:

  • Over $40,000 raised for Do Something which helps young people make a positive difference in the world - based on 10% of ticket revenue, 5% of the retail price for each Take Action! Volume 8 Compilation CD sold and additional tour related fundraising.

  • Over 23,000 fans in 40 cities proved that the world can be made a better place one voice at a time.

  • Over 9,000 copies of the Take Action Volume 8 Compilation already sold
Take Action Grants, empowered by f.y.e., MySpace Music, Myspace IMPACT and Hopeless/Sub City Records, will focus on Music Education or any other cause young people are passionate about. Stay tuned to find out more about the recipients.

  • “This year's tour exceeded our expectations. The bands were truly engaged in the cause of young people taking action. Partnering with Sub City has been a great fundraising tool for Do Something, but more importantly, it's been a great way to spread our message of positive action to teens,"says Do Something CMO, Aria Finger

Strike First Records sign IN THE MIDST OF LIONS

    OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

We are happy to welcome IN THE MIDST OF LIONS to the Strike First Records family of bands. Their debut album OUT OF DARKNESS will be out on May 26, 2009 and you can pre-order it now in our online store. Check out a new song on the bands myspace. IN THE MIDST OF LIONS play vicious deathcore in the service of a higher power. A mixture of fast-paced tech metal and melodic worship, their music can be compared to such contemporaries as The Faceless, Meshuggah and Veil of Maya, with the addition of the fact that ITMOL packs a serious spiritual punch. "Our generation is in dire need of a savior. It has become trendy to cast out our Lord, we are here to bring the truth." ITMOL's truth comes under the guise of death metal laced with explosive breakdowns and inspirational live shows.

    BAND STATEMENT:
"so a few months back, we all flew into seattle, and we met at baggage claim. some of us old friends, some of us had never met before. we laughed, we cried, and we eventually got picked up and taken to the studio. somehow we managed to write and track some songs that we are all very proud of, in about 10 days or so. it was hectic, it was stressful, and it smelled very bad in our bedroom, but we did it.

here are the facts: sometime this year, we hope within the next 3-4 months max, this 5 song EP wll be released. the reason this is taking so long, is simply the fact that its very hard to get things done when youre in a 7 person band, and each person has another band, which is touring full time. so as fast as we all can, we are wrapping things up, waiting for final mixes, working on art work, etc.... and as soon as we can get it done, it will be there for you. trust me, we all wish it was out now, we are very excited about this."

THE HIGHER new album, "It's Only Natural"

Deftly combining pop, rock and R&B, THE HIGHER, return to melt hearts this summer with the release of their sophomore album, It's Only Natural, out on June 23via Epitaph.

Produced by Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches), It's Only Natural features twelve tracks that ooze hormones and heartbreak for a fun, sexy album that's filled with songs like the irresistibly dancey "It's Only Natural," the pool-side anthem "Undertaker" and a seductive cover of Ne-Yo's "Closer," (available for stream here) which will be wearing grooves from dance floors to backseats all summer long. Prepare to fall in love with Vegas' hottest attraction.

"I'm really excited for the release of this record," says exuberant frontman Seth Trotter. "It's gonna incorporate the same R&B/Pop vibe that The Higher always bring, and it also brings back some of the guitar and rock that the old Higher fans might miss. It's the kind of record that has songs that everyone will enjoy, no matter what kind of music you listen to."

The Higher's patented blend of unabashed pop with a life-long love of rock translates best in their suave, non-stop live show that keeps the crowds moving. The band will make hearts swoon all summer long with It's Only Natural, but fans can get a taste of what's to come on their mini-tour come May.

"You can expect us to be touring all this summer and fall and we hope to get to every fan that hasn't had the chance to see us up close and in person," adds Trotter. "Come say hi and tell me what you think. See you all soon. Pace yourself."

Altercation At Last Night's BEFORE THEIR EYES Show In Poughkeepsie, NY

"Tonight's security did a great job of putting a fellow band member in the hospital."

"All of this started because the security member (pictured below) decided to ATTACK us because we didn't want to set our equipment out in the pouring rain while we went to get our van to load out".

"Here is how it all went down: Meet Goliath, 7 foot, 300 pound, crazy man that likes to beat up kids."

BEFORE THEIR EYES drummer, Jarrett, ended up with a gash on his forehead.

"How did he get his point accross? He had a fit and grabbed our photographer and threw him up against the wall. His mouth was much too colorful for this blog, but you get what I am saying. For the record, all you photographers out there, you can photograph anyone, even if they don't want to be shot, as long as you are on public property, and they are too (as long as you don't make money off the images)

To any band or fan thinking of attending a show at The Chance/ Loft in Poughkeepsie , New York please reconsider as you may be put in the hospital by roided out, goliath-like, drunk and belligerent 40 year old security guards.

A big thanks to Bless The Fall for being more than family to us, and to all the fans who came out and saw us play, you're all awesome."

ADAM'S ATTIC releases "Skylines and City Lights"

    OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

Los Angeles, CA - ADAM'S ATTIC whole-heartedly lays down their armor to present their most vulnerable release, SKYLINES AND CITY LIGHTS. While the band originally planned to release the album in early 2008, the founding band members' mother had cancer and treatment all through 2008, which prevented the release. The band officially released this album in 2009.

With each song, Adam's Attic captures a snapshot in time, and this record is a time capsule of a personal journey through various "skylines and city lights".

Since the twist of fate that led Adam's Attic to relocate to Los Angeles from New Orleans, the band has been on three tours across the globe. The album title, Skylines and City Lights, signifies their privilege of touring domestically and internationally.

Adam's Attic front man, Joe Henry said, "Every band dreams of touring the world and sharing their music. For us, those dreams are materializing. Following the desire of our hearts has led us to perform domestically from Miami to Los Angeles and internationally in countries like Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greenland, Singapore, and British Indian Ocean Territory. We have gone further than we ever thought, yet we know that are so many more 'skylines and city lights'."

When Adam's Attic hit the studio in the fall of 2007, they were ready. Three years had passed since the release of their last album, In the Blink of an Eye. The group had recorded other songs over the past few years, but nothing was right for release. This time, the five original band members decided to self-produce their collection of songs under the supervision of Joe Henry. Adam's Attic is Joe Henry, Derek Henry, Scott Boaz, and Frank DeSalvo. To capture his vision for this project, Joe Henry was tasked with the duty of assembling the right team. After interviewing Mike Troolines, the owner of Sound Asylum Studio in Santa Ana, Henry knew he had found the right place to track. After the songs were recorded, Misha Kachkachishvili of Axistudio in New Orleans provided expertise mixing the project. With a strong recommendation from Kachkachishvili, Bruce Barielle was enlisted to master the tracks.

Standby Records signs RETURN FROM EXILE

    OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

California-based metal act, RETURN FROM EXILE, have announced their signing with Standby Records! The Ohio-based label that has nearly doubled in size in the past few months added the band to their roster on the strength of a recently self released Consumed EP. “We had been actively seeking a label and Standby came around at the perfect time, this just worked out for us. Jon King (label president) approached us about signing with Standby and we felt like it was the right step to make at the right time in our career.” Singer/guitarist Joey Moser commented. Formed in April of 2007, Return From Exile have built their careers from the ground up with a DIY work ethic and a drive to prove themselves to fans.

Return From Exile will enter the studio again in mid April to finish recording their self titled Standby debut album with Zack Ohren (All Shall Perish, As Blood Runs Black, Conducting From the Grave, etc.) with a release date slated for late summer. “We’ve always been a metal band but with the new album there will definitely be some power metal influences. We tell people we're not a metal band, we're a rock band. We just want go out every night and rock as hard as possible.” Moser added. “After finishing the album, we’ve got some shows lined up for May and working on finalizing tours for June and July leading up to the release of the album. We’re anxious to get on the road and build up momentum to carry us into 2010.” For information about the band, their upcoming album or tours, you can check out their myspace page here:

AGRACEFUL guitarist Kasey Smith leaves the band

    Here's a statement from AGRACEFUL:

Another small/bigger update than the last, guitar played Kasey Smith recently left our band because he wanted to pursue other musical endeavors. There is absolutely NO hard feelings towards him and he will remain one of our best friends. He just felt like it was better for him to step from his position in the band. This does not mean that we are breaking up/giving up/throwing in the towel/calling it quits. We are going to keep moving in a positive direction. The moral of the band will remain very high and we plan on doing along in the coming months. We already have replacement members for both Kasey (guitar) and Nate (drums). Sometimes this happens with bands and in this situation it was beyond our control. People grow and sometimes decide that they'd rather be doing other things. We plan on releasing a lot of new stuff (music video, tour dates, songs) before summer rolls around!

You can check out what Kasey is doing here:

    Unsigned Buzz: THE RIGHT COAST

Over the past few years, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania has become a hotbed of successful musical acts. Since the spring of 2008, THE RIGHT COAST has been continuing with this tradition, but trading the metal riffs and screams of their contemporaries for endlessly addictive hooks, choruses and sing-alongs. Brandon, Joe, Pat, Doug and Nick have found the essence to their teamwork and creativity, giving the listener everything that they would love from the genre while still pushing themselves to deliver more. With barely a year of experience as a group, The Right Coast is able to boast many accomplishments that would surely cause jealousy among their peers. They have earned the privilege of sharing the stage with national touring acts such as Four Year Strong (I Surrender/Decaydance), Set Your Goals (Epitaph), Every Avenue (Fearless), Meg & Dia (Doghouse), & Shwayze (Suretone).

On APRIL 21st, THE RIGHT COAST, releases their debut EP This Is Now for free online, so check out their site at Myspace.com/therightcoast on Tuesday for more details. The EP was produced by Paul Leavitt; check out the video below of the band recording in the studio. Also, in 2009 expect to see THE RIGHT COAST touring all summer!

THE SILENT YEARS just signed to SideCho Records last week and are preparing to release their debut EP, LET GO. Expect the digital release on APRIL 21st and physical release on JULY 14th! Here's our review of the 6-track EP.

"LET GO offers a short & sweet yet solid intro to the band's unique brand of melodic folk rock. The EP kicks off with the haunting yet delicate vocals of frontman JOSH EPSTEIN, who's vocals are perfectly fused with intricate melodies from a random assortment of instruments. The band's use of multiple instrumentation isn't cluttered instead each instrument individually shines creating a musical masterpiece of melodic folk rock at its best." -- Indie Star TV

    2. Vampires Bite The Hand That Feeds Them
    3. Forest Fire

JAPANESE ROCKERS FACT INVOLVED IN SERIOUS VAN ACCIDENT ON DAY OF ALBUM RELEASE REMAINING US AND CANADIAN TOUR DATES CANCELLED

The members of Japanese rock band FACT were involved in a serious van accident yesterday afternoon. The band had played a show in Montgomery, AL the night before and was headed to their next gig in Altoona, PA, when another vehicle crossed the median on Interstate 85 just outside of Atlanta, striking the band’s van and causing the two vehicles to collide head on. The van flipped over on its side.

Everyone survived, but singer Hiro sustained a concussion and drummer Eiji remains hospitalized with a broken arm. Tour manager John Kim was originally thought to have suffered internal injuries but turned out to be OK and was released from the hospital. The other band members suffered minor injuries.

Due to Eiji’s arm injuries, FACT will be forced to cancel the remaining dates on their North American run and will return to Japan to recuperate. There were two US shows left and a string of Canadian dates that will be rescheduled at a later date.

THERE FOR TOMORROW debut album, "A Little Faster"

Orlando rockers THERE FOR TOMORROW have announced their debut full-length album, A LITTLE FASTER, will be released on June 9, 2009 via Hopeless Records.

Harder, edgier without losing any of the melodic crunch for which they are known, A Little Faster thrusts There For Tomorrow up a few notches in their already infectious songwriting. From the slash and burn guitars of the title track to the tightly-wound "Backbone" to the soaring ballad "Just in Time", it reinforces Billboard's stance who called the band "a perfect mix of neo-rock, indie pop, and punk, the group demands attention".

    THERE FOR TOMORROW is:
Maika Maile (lead vocals, guitar, programming)
    Christian Climer (guitar, vocals)
    Chris Kamrada (drums, samples)
    Jay Enriquez (bass, vocals)

The album, produced by Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine) and co-produced by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, will hit stores on June 29.

Some of the track titles for the album include "The Reckoning," "The Forgotten" and "Starting Over." Vocalist Howard Jones offered a little insight into Killswitch Engage, saying, “It was time for us to step outside of our comfort zone and try something a little different with this record. It definitely still sounds like us, but we needed to be refreshed and take things a little further." The singer also comments on the album being the band's second self-titled effort of its career, saying, "When we all couldn’t agree on an album title, someone suggested we just keep it self-titled and we all pretty much agreed. It gives it the feeling of a fresh new beginning."
