Kevin's Statement:

Hey what's up everybody. Kevin here. It saddens me to say that I will no longer be a part of Four Letter Lie. I wanna try to keep this short but I just wanted to say thank you to anyone who ever helped us, and me personally, out while being a part of the Four Letter Lie adventure. I'm still very close with all the guys and consider them my best friends to this day and wish them the best of luck in their bright future. Thank you everyone for everything and I'll see you in the future!

Photo Finsh Records released a mass tweet on Twitter yesterday letting the world know that they just signed a new band. Weird enough though, they're not telling who, but instead led Twitter followers to a blog link asking us to guess who the band is. Well, some people say Nevershoutnever! but I'm still waiting for Doghouse to sign him.

When I look at our Unsigned Buzz list, only one band sticks out...well more than one but the obvious pick for me is THE MORNING OF. Photo Finish is in New York, The Morning Of are based out of New York, and plus TMO has confirmed they are no longer signed to Tragic Hero, so why not? Seminal punk band RANCID have set June 1st for the release of Let The Dominoes Fall (Hellcat/Epitaph), their first studio album in six years. The platinum-selling band recorded at George Lucas' Skywalker Sound Studio, with production by Epitaph Records founder/Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. Let The Dominoes Fall features 19 new songs, all written by Rancid. Special guest and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Booker T , contributes Hammond B3 organ melody on one track, “Up To No Good.” “The crew is back doing what we do best,” says frontman Tim Armstrong. “We approached every element of this record as a team, and the result is my favorite Rancid record to date. ”

It’s also their most topical. From the unflinching observations of “This Place,” “Lulu” and “Locomotive,” all of which presage the current economic meltdown, to “The Bravest Kids” which rails against media’s kid-glove treatment of the Iraq war, and the mostly acoustic “Civilian Ways,” inspired by the soldier’s journey of Armstrong’s brother to Iraq and back home again, Let The Dominoes Fall feels timely, adamant and alive.

FOUR LETTER LIE new songs posted! Where's KEVIN?

FOUR LETTER LIE has been writing new songs for the past few weeks but in the midst of that they have uploaded 2 new songs on their myspace, "I Don't Speak to Dead Men" and "Firecracker". Hmm..."Firecracker" is very different from anything we've heard from them, nice change up while "I Don't Speak to Dead Men" has a good full hardcore sound, nice vocals on both songs! As I write this and listen to the music, I must say pay attention to the standout guitar solo on "Firecracker".

The Minnesota pop/hardcore band also has a member missing in their new band pic. What's going on... last we heard, Kevin Skaff was filling in on guitar for A Day to Remember in Europe. ADTR been came back, so where's Kevin?! His name is even missing from the 'Band Members' section. Hey guys, it looks like KEVIN SKAFF is no longer the singer/guitarist for FOUR LETTER LIE.

The Audition's Seth Johnson talks "musical revolution"

In response to a few bands/artists verbally slamming bands like BROKENCYDE, lead guitarist Seth Johnson from THE AUDITION wrote this Myspace blog:

"You know... with all of this "musical revolution" talk going around I figured I would offer my opinion to the interwebz. Im not here to defend/bring down any of the aforementioned "shitty bands" but I just wanted to say that a "musical revolution" isn't going to come from us bands. No, we are not all going to form an angry mob, rise up and burn their tour busses to the ground. There is not going to be a war, it has to be a state of mind change from you; the fan, friend or casual listener.

Everything that bands do is for you. You are the life force for all of this, the tour busses, the semi trucks, strobe lights, pyrotechnics and even sometimes back-up dancers. All of it is for you, it's yours, so we (the bands) are not the gate keepers nor are we the enforcers of the rock and roll revolution 2009. That is the change that you need to bring, if you see something on the internet that has a bunch of TURDS in pink and bright green stripes and there all doing karate moves or some ridiculous thing to get your attention, don't give it to them, you know its just going lead you to something empty and contrived.

If you think you are going to their myspace page and playing the songs to hear how ridiculous it is, or looking at their pictures and sending them to your friends so you can talk smack on them on the internet, you are being just as proactive and helpful as a full fledged fan. SO DONT PAY ATTENTION TO IT. The amount of awful, tasteless and fake bands I've been exposed to on the internet TRUMPS the amount of great, original and substance driven bands. This is because it is so fun to point out the ridiculousness of it, and you hate it so much and it bothers you so much that you become an anti-fan, being just as helpful and important as a real fan. If you want to say 2009 was the year rock and roll was resurrected to something we could be proud of , and people stopped paying attention to the endless supply of chain gang garbage, they would go away. These bands have no true fans, they live in controversy, they live in our blogs like this, and when we stop paying attention, when the "war" is over we can go back to music that has substance, soul, and is fucking cool.

Im glad that people are finally coming out and saying there opinion, music was founded in the exchange of ideas, and that will only serve to retain some of the greatness that music once had. But now it's on you to go out and make it happen, you cant wait on it to fix it self. Music belongs to everyone TAKE IT BACK."

Epitaph Records is proud to announce the signing of Bay Area pop-punk crew SET YOUR GOALS with plans to release their sophomore album on July 21st. The band recently wrapped up recording with Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches) and will be hitting the road with labelmates New Found Glory on a cross-country tour.

"Of all our options, Epitaph was our first pick and we're very excited about having a great team of people behind us who will give this record the push we know it deserves," said singer Matt Wilson. "We've put a lot of time into this and it's reassuring to see that they believe in it as much as we do. The staff is very enthusiastic about working with our ideas and there is a dedication to our band here that we've never felt from any other label."

Born out of the Bay Area punk scene, Set Your Goals released an EP in 2006 and their critically acclaimed, fan favorite full length, Mutiny!, later the same year. Immediately grabbing the attention of their fellow bands and fans, the group would go on to tour with the likes of Alexisonfire, Anti Flag and Saves The Day over the next few years. In 2007 the band was featured on the Punk Goes Acoustic 2 compilation and in 2008 they recorded Lil Jon's "Put Yo Hood Up" for the Punk Goes Crunk compilation.

With fan anticipation for the group's sophomore full length at an all time high, Set Your Goals have joined forces with punk's most established label, and have their sights set on making their best album yet.

HASTE THE DAY touring South Africa!

Christian hard rock band, HASTE THE DAY, will be the second Tooth & Nail band to play a few dates in the country of South Africa. Last year, Underoath drew crowds of 800+ and now HASTE THE DAY is going to be making the long trek in May. The band also has a new DVD in the works and is planning to shoot some footage of their trip to include as well. Also, PEEP the band's new music video, "Mad Man".

We know this has been long over due, to explain "Hey what's up with ATFEH?!"
We have all decided that is time for us to take and indefinite hiatus, We all felt it would be a good choice for us as a band to do this.

If you haven't noticed our drummer Matt has left the band and moved back to Maryland and we all wish him the VERY best in whatever he does. We love the dude to death.

as for the remaining four of us in the band we have all been keeping ourself's very busy in our lives, We are all still good friends (This no blink thing we love each other!)

We hope that you all understand and support our choice in taking this time away, We wish we could be out there seeing all of you touring our butts of but its just not in the cards from ATFEH at this moment in time.

We just want to thank every single one of you that have stuck by us over the years making this band very very amazing to be in, We love each and every single one of you.

We are going to continue to check the myspace as much as we can reply to your messages and comments and all that fun stuff.

BRING ME THE HORIZON guitarist leaves band

Guitarist Curtis Ward leaves BRING ME THE HORIZON in the middle of The Taste of Chaos tour. Don't worry BMTH is still playing TOC; the band's guitar tech Dean Rowbotham will be replacing Curtis for the remaining dates. Here's the lowdown on Curtis from BMTH's blog.

"hey, so you may of heard, and the rumors are true. Curtis Ward is no longer a member of bring me the horizon. This decision has been a long time coming, and although everything can look fine from the outside, theres been a problem for a long time. Over the last year especially, our touring schedule has been crazy, we are hardly ever at home, and for curtis, this proved very hard. we could see that curtis wasn't enjoying this band like the other 4 of us were anymore. It was nothing personal it was a decision that wasn't made lightly, but one that we believe is best for the band's future and for curtis's life.

we wish curtis all the best in whatever he chooses to do in the future.

but no one fear! the band will not be splitting up, this is something that we did to prevent the band from splitting up. we will still be doing all our future tours, currently finishing up taste of chaos with our good friend and guitar tech dean, who also looks abit like donkey kong."

MY HERO IS ME breaks up

The North Carolina band signed to Tragic Hero Records, MY HERO IS ME, has officially called it quits. Lead singer and the band's only original member, DARYL G. announced the band's breakup via Myspace blog. Peep the excerpt below.

"as of march 09, my hero is me is no more. this band has struggled with success and how much of it we were going to get for quite some time. signing to tragic hero records almost 3 years ago and being apart of the 1st generation bands signed to the label, made us believe that there was something about us in which not only WE felt was special and going somewhere. feeling like we were apart of a family that cared and wanted us to get to where we felt we could be was a blessing. sadly, this blessing started to become a nightmare through all of our rough times.

this past tour was the end all to not only shitty tours, but to this band as well. we did everything we could as a band to get our name and music out to people. our job really is to show up, hug and talk to you guys, rock some fucking metal, and then hang out and party and chill and sell merch.. and do it all over again.. night after night.. hows it feel when u dont see much else from other components that are supposed to have as much faith in you and your success as you do? pretty devastating. what really sucked was this past tour.. every band.. every band.. was amazing and the best dudes ever.. and no one knew when we were playing.. no one.. we would get messages 3 days later saying oh wow.. you guys were in dallas?? shit if we knew.. we would have brought like 50 kids with us.. we love you guys here!! this after we play a show for basically all the touring bands, maybe a local, and the promoter if he hasnt dipped out yet..without paying us.

and that became routine basically on this last tour. its sad when you are in CA and you are miserable. have we not done our share? have we not put in enough credits to get something bigger? have we not slept in our van in walmart parking lots enough? idk.. some of you may say no, but i know we def say yes.we did everything we could do to get this band where we believed we could be and now more than ever, we saw it just wasnt going to be in our cards." -- DARYL G.

SENSES FAIL lead man Buddy Nielsen put the verbal smackdown on BROKENCYDE! And, yep they are still on tour with Albuquerque hip-hop trio. On SENSES FAIL's AbsolutePunk profile, Buddy wrote a blog and this is the lowdown:

"Yeah, I slam them every night because in no way, shape or form do I back anything they do or say and I am embarrassed that kids these days are into it and am sad that kids these days are exposed to it. There is absolutely no substance whatsoever in their songs and no passion in anything they do. It is the musical equivalent of a snow cone, bland tasting frozen tap water loaded with sugar, yet colorful, that will give you a brain freeze, melt all over your hands leaving yourself dissatisfied and sticky. They seem like pretty harmless guys but if I don't voice my opinion on what I think about Brokencyde then I have no right to ever speak up about any other injustices to the music scene in the future. There are only going to be more Brokencydes in the coming months with Millionaires, Breath Carolina and countless other mindless white suburban hip-hop "acts" popping up. I never thought Id say this but this new wave of horse shit makes me look back and not hate Atom and His Package because at least he was original. I know I am not going to change anything, there will still be 14 year old girls that like their colorful merch and there terrible club beats but if I can make one person at least question the authenticity and integrity of singing the words "let's get freaky now, let's get fucking freaky now" then I think it is well worth the effort." -- Buddy Nielsen

TIDES OF MAN was one of the original 10 on our Unsigned Buzz list. Last week, we announced that the band was potentially signing with Rise Records BUT NOW it's official!

The Tampa, FL progressive rock quintet will release their debut album, EMPIRE THEORY, on August 4th!

JONNY CRAIG's new solo side project

After rumors, it's official, JONNY CRAIG is developing a solo side project via Rise Records. I guess recording with Craig Owens got Jonny inspired to add another side project to his repertoire.

No news on when some music will be released but Jonny is listed as a solo artist on Rise Records' band list on their website AND Jonny just created a new Myspace page on February 20th. In our interview with Jonny a couple months ago, he cited Boyz II Men as one of his musical inspirations, so will we hear some R&B styled rhymes?

BURDEN OF THE DAY drummer leaves

Drummer Jesse Histetler from BURDEN OF THE DAY has parted ways with the band just before they hit the road on March 22nd. Jesse announced the departure in a Myspace blog, read some of it below.

THE YEARLING cancel tour & lose 2 members

THE YEARLING were supposed to be going on tour with E FOR EXPLOSION beginning today. In a blog released by the band on Friday, they state that Mike (drums/vox) and Tony (bass) decided to leave the band. And due to the rashness of this happening and not being able to work things out, they had to cancel the tour. THE YEARLING will be looking for replacements, wrapping up recording for their album, and planning to tour in May.

ENVY ON THE COAST will begin recording their new album with Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, CA on March 23rd. Lead singer, Ryan Hunter, revealed there will be some guest vocalists but so far he only named COREY TAYLOR from Slipknot!
