Mainstream media recognizes only a handful of artists who bombard our senses with unsavory daily doses, but the indie arena is represented by a multitude of musicians full of fresh musical creativity. Genuine artistry and talent is rising from the underground, whether you know some of these bands are not, all of them are talented and should be heard.

"MAINSTREAM KILLED THE INDIE STAR", jump started in January 2008 as the brainchild of indie filmmaker and music lover, Shekinah Apedo. Our aim is to be the premier video network for independent & unsigned bands showcasing interviews, taped live shows, & music videos.

In January 2009, we premiered as a weekly cable show in Tampa, FL and expanded to select cities in Kentucky, Maine, & New York. Our 1st season ended in April 2009. The second season of Indie Star TV premiered in June on local cable stations in Manhattan, New York; the weekly night show ended in September. We are now exclusively online, for the time being.

Outside of indie music in the U.S., Indie Star is also setting up an online stage for unsigned and indie-labeled bands all over the world. See music videos and live performances from some of the dopest talent the globe as to offer in our RAWTUNEAGE blog. Indie Star TV is about introducing the world to good music. Mainstream is played out, INDIE is where it's at!
